Good day my fellow Americans;
It looks like our Congressional Representatives (isn’t that a joke) have once again put their finger in the dike without really solving anything. Most of you reading this are either business owners or are intelligent enough to know America is in trouble. We’ve been kicking this can down the road for some time and sooner or later, we were going to run out of road. Well, we’re here and nothing short of painful austerity programs will save us. I just love watching the power of denial and how so many don’t want to face what needs to be done, hoping there is some less painful or better tasting medicine. Sorry. Had we dealt with this back in the Bush administration perhaps things might have been different; then again, maybe not. Regardless, in my opinion, it’s time for the American spirit which lead us through WWII and took us to the moon, to re-emerge. This time, the war is with ourselves to remember who we are; remember that we’re not afraid of sacrifice, and to prove once again what Alexis de Tocqueville observed in 1831: American Exceptionalism.
Capitalism and the free market have NOT failed. We’ve just messed it up and we need to go back to the original success plan which took us from new nation to superpower in less than 200 years. As I have always said, one of the jobs of the government is to be a referee and insure that everyone plays by the same set of agreed upon rules. They don’t take sides nor play in the game. I’m neither a republican nor a democrat however, Ronald Reagan did make two valid points when he said:
“Government is not a solution to our problem, government is the problem.“”The federal government has taken too much tax money from the people, too much authority from the states, and too much liberty with the Constitution.“
God, I never thought I’d be quoting Ronald Reagan however, I know in my gut the above to be true.
Ladies and gentlemen, I think… no I KNOW it’s time once again for another greatest generation. I am not ready to lay down and die and watch the sun set on the American empire as we move to a welfare state only to watch the sun rise over China once more. To this I not only say no but hell NO!
I stand with the power of the individual, personal freedom, capitalism and the free market; not with cradle-to-grave care taking, the state run collective and loss of personal responsibility.
